We know you. We see you. We are you.
And like you, we had a choice.
First and foremost, we’re best buddies. We’ve been in each others’ lives (and ears and families and hearts) for nearly 20 years and we’ve lived the ups and downs of friendship and careers and businesses and all the challenges that come with life.
When we realised we could combine Julie’s qualifications as a Certified Daring Way ™ Facilitator (CDWF) with Janis’ energetic approach to health and wellbeing, and bring it to our second favourite home – Bali – we knew we’d discovered our passion project.
About Julie Loveny
Julie is a compassionate and generous leader and a born connector of human hearts. She has trained with Brené Brown and her team and is a Certified Daring Way™ Facilitator (CDWF) and Certified Dare to Lead™ Facilitator (CDTLF). Julie is honoured to share these programs which are based on Brené’s research and best seller books. As an experienced workshop leader, practitioner, lecturer, and researcher, Julie believes “in the worthiness of all people and is dedicated to walking with people on some of their most difficult journeys.” – Brené Brown.
Mother to Clara (who is best mates with Janis’ son, Brodie) she’s a self-confessed epicurean, adores choral music, and loves to travel, though Bali is her spiritual home.
About Janis Johnston
Janis brings energy and passion to everything she does, but is especially driven to help in the health and wellbeing space. She’s the kind of woman who accepts with love everything the Universe has to offer, including the gifts bestowed to her through Brené Brown’s work. Janis knows there’s nothing that tops the feeling of extraordinary levels of heart-centred service and Bali ticks all her boxes. The Balinese people combine humility and grace with a genuine desire to deliver amazing service so there was no better option for the Courage Hearts retreats in Janis’ mind – in fact, the launch of Courage Hearts in Bali has Janis beaming with pure joy.
Janis is madly in love with her family, her friends, who she’s always making laugh, and the pleasures of travel, good food and a ravishing red!

At a challenging time in my life in 2010, I stumbled across Brené’s TED talk on vulnerability. I could so relate to the fact that connection is why we’re here and that our fear is we are not worthy of love and belonging. But more than that, Brené was so funny and very vulnerable herself and I just knew I had to follow this incredible woman. And so my journey began; a second TED talk on Shame in 2012, every YouTube video viewed and all her books avidly read. When in 2015 Brené began to train eligible professionals to run her curriculums, I was on a plane out of my home town, Perth in Western Australia and spent months in training to become a Certified Facilitator.
I have done many courses over the years, but nothing compares with the Daring Way™ and most recently Dare to Lead™. Of all the highlights of my career, running these programs is my greatest pleasure. To be able to do so with my best friend in Ubud, Bali, our spiritual home, is singularly one of the best experiences of my life.
I know it will feel that way for you too.

I first met Julie back in 2014 and we really hit it off from day one. At that time, I was starting up my personal development business INSITE MIND in Perth, Western Australia and I recognised a kindred spirit in Julie around our shared passion for facilitating, training, educating and coaching. Julie has run several Daring Way™ workshops for my growing team and I’m constantly blown away by her ability to reach people, to connect with their hearts and minds and help them choose courage in their lives. I am in awe of the way Julie channels Brene’s energy by being encouraging, gentle, supportive, empathetic, humorous, authentic, professional, warm, inspiring, so incredibly generous and brave beyond words.
Oh, and did I mention that my beautiful friend Julie is an amazing connector? Well, she is and it’s through her that I met our dear friend Janis. My business was growing beyond my wildest dreams and I was looking for someone to help me spread the word about INSITE MIND. And in walked Janis. She bounded into our local cafe with enthusiasm, warmth and a wicked sense of humour, putting me at ease in an instant. I felt the minute I met that Janis would be the perfect fit for me, my team and my business and when she shared her extraordinary gifts around relationship-building, customer service and organisational skills, I knew we would get on like a house on fire and we did. I absolutely loved working with Janis – she’s one in a million.
